I learned about Burlesque at a very early age, thanks to PBS showing the footage of Sally Rand's Fan Dance from the 1934 Chicago World's Fair. I was discovered, moments later, dancing around my grandmother's sitting room with the long peacock feathers she kept in her floor vase (not only was I in trouble for playing with the feathers, but I was in the room that no one was allowed to be in...for anyone who grew up in an Italian family, you know what room I mean!). From that moment on, my glittery love affair with Burlesque had begun! I really attribute my Burlesque start to Michelle L'amour and Cha Cha Velour. I started studying with Michelle while I was living in Chicago. When I learned that i would be moving to Las Vegas, I sought out Cha Cha and her Las Vegas Burlesque Classes Studio to continue my training. Through Cha Cha's studio, I was able to make my grand entrance into the Burlesque community.
How long have you been performing?
I was trained in dance and voice from a very young age, and was heavily involved in theater. I have been performing, in general, since the age of three. My Burlesque performing is more recent, having started almost a year ago.
What does burlesque mean to you ?
Burlesque, to me, means strength, confidence, glamor and sensuality. It gives women from any walk of life, in any shape and size, the confidence and strength to show off their best assets. Burlesque is one of the most glamorous and sensual art forms, and it has with stood the test of time!
Why Ohio?
Ohio is my very first festival!! I love the mid-west (having lived in Chicago for over eight years) and I am over the moon to be back visiting, especially because I will be performing!
Describe your self in one word?
Vivacious.
