When you talk to Kimberlilly, she will strike you as a vibrant woman. Her burlesque journey started in March 2018. Prior to that, she found inspiration with social media through pole and burlesque accounts while she was bedridden fighting cancer. She made herself a promise that after her fight ended she would reclaim her body and femininity, on her terms, in her own way and that is exactly what she did the year of her 50th birthday, with her first show! 

At the age of 47 (July 24th 2015), Kimberlilly L'Amour was diagnosed with Stage 2 Rectal Cancer, During the course of the first part of her fight, she had to undergo multiple chemo/radiation treatments before her scheduled surgery, but on November 11, 2015, she underwent a life threatening medical emergency, but to the surprise of the doctor, she successfully had pulled through. After seeing her life flash in front of her eyes, She made a choice that would alter her life even further as she chose to fully embrace the colostomy bag after some online research. Kimberlilly knew it came with a negative stigma but, she received it with a positive light and took full ownership of it. She did now allow cancer to strip her humanity away.

And so she went forward, with a new outlook on life.

She excitedly took the stage and when the corset came off, the room fell silent and everyone erupted in applause and she knew she was fully seen. 
Since then Kimberlilly has been performing burlesque for over a year and a half.  

Kimberlilly, as a black woman at the age of 51, she tells us she is still evolving with the relationship with her body, Once she spoke her truth at the age of 27 and told her story of experiencing childhood abuse, she was able to begin the healing process. She describes herself as a grownup kid with some wisdom, who has been here for a while and is focused on healing, growing, living, loving, and inspiring people. She states, “there is still joy amidst the many hardships we all go through. We still smile, laugh, cry, love, and the gift of life after cancer, has helped me to become a better person to myself and everyone around me. 
I’m just a broken vase glueing myself back together with gold”

The 9th annual International Ohio Burlesque Festival will be her 3rd festival and she is so excited to come to Cleveland to showcase her truth on Friday Night 2nd August at The Beachland Ballroom and we could not be more ecstatic to have her join us this year.

Legends like Suzette Fontaine whom resides in New York City. 
She had her start as a go-go dancer in the early 1960’s of Puerto Rico to her ballet dancing with a company at Carnegie Hall until 1968 brought her into the world of burlesque at the Playhouse Theater on 42nd St. To avoid the stigma and exclusion facing many Latina and African American dancers of her time, Suzette chose the last name of her favorite English ballerina, Dame Margot Fonteyn, and picked “Suzette” for its French flair. Suggesting a European background, Suzette Fontaine was born and began her career lasting over twenty-five years. 

She was among Marinka, Julie Mist , Gypsy Louise , Lola Foxx, Gina Bon Bon and The first legend latina legend of the year (BHOF) just to name a few of our latina icons. 

Then and now our identity is complex to people not familiar with latinidad and always bulk us together is on but keep in mind not all of us are from the same country nor speak the same language and many do not understand terms or definitions when it comes to Hispanic, Latinx, Latino, Afro Latino, Mexican and Chicano.

​The 8th annual International Ohio Burlesque Festival will be an official drop off for donations that will benefit the families from Norwalk and Salem affected by the ICE raids in Ohio. We will be working with Los Niños De Corsos and Inner Religious Task force of Central America. 
A donation box will be set outside of The Beachland Ballroom from August 2nd thru August 4th where you can drop off the donations that will be picked up daily to distribute to over 120 families affected.  The Ohio Burlesque Festival is an Immigrant Women Owned Business that will like to help the families of both Norwalk and Salem thru our biggest celebration of the year.

Performers of Color in Burlesque present some of the most electrifying, awe-inspiring, binary gender defying, blood pressure raising, stigma-challenging, body positive performance art you'll see in a Cabaret setting. A person who is not of color experiencing a performing artist of color in action may only notice our style and physicality, but there is so much more to behold for those who pay attention. To understand what's happening onstage, one would need to take into consideration the mental and spiritual fortitude it requires to be a person of color in a world that hates you, and wants to see you dead, dying, or suffering.  A world that sees you as undesirable, disposable, and unworthy of love or celebration in any form. Every time a Performer of Color sets foot on a stage, we are bringing thousands of our ancestors with us. In addition to gifting us with supernatural talent and abilities, our resilient genetics also carry the trauma from the past injustices dealt to our people. This beautifully complex combination of things is etched into our bones and flowing through our veins.  ​

When you gaze upon our skin and revel at our undeniable beauty, don't forget that once we leave that stage, we go back out into the real world. It is not enough to love us only when we are entertaining you. We need you to love us when it's time to vote; bills and legislature are being passed that will directly harm our communities. We need you to love us at your local community housing meetings when you have the chance to fight for and create affordable housing; millions of artists are being displaced because of gentrification.
We need you to love us when we speak out about the ways we are being harmed in the world, and believe us the first time we say it. 

Police brutality, environmental racism, and institutional racism are still major problems we deal with every day, even if when you don't  see it in the headlines.  We need you to love us as whole people because it is as whole people we present ourselves to you.

Lola claims Mexicana, Sonoran Yaqui, and Sur Americana Mix. I have an extensive background in various forms of Latin American dance, from Latin Ballroom to Mexican Folklore, Brazilian Samba, Cumbia, Merengue, Salsa, and Tex Mex. Thanks to my diverse ethnic background I grew up being fluent and educated in five languages- English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French and being very educated on Latino History I have not only been a burlesque performer for five years but also an instructor, and when I teach a class, I bring in Latin culture not only through physical dance movement but the langue and history associated which each type unique dance. 

I feel when I first started burlesque, there were few references to Latino(a) performers unless you look at old grind house movies. Even burlesque history and pin-up culture were very whitewashed. As I started to delve into burlesque I fell in love with discovering our Latina Legends & pioneers and have even fortunate enough to have them share their stories with me and guide me. Growing up in Nogales, Arizona, I never quite felt like I fit in to either Mexican or "American" culture. I played in a Mariachi but also in punk band. I danced ballet Folklorico but also classic ballet, contemporary and jazz on the high school pomline. I was too "white-washed" for the traditional Mexican community but too "Mexican" for American culture. I spent so much time trying to assimilate to white culture and deny my roots. Burlesque has brought my back to having orgullo for my cultures and my ethnic backgrounds. I love that I can blend it in with classic bump and grind, neo or comedy to offer it to my audiences. I feel as every performance I am blessed with, I am given a chance not only to know another layer of my as a burlesque performer but as representative of my culture. All this has given me a spotlight and a stage to educate and promote our culture and bring up questions of ethnic/culture/social issues. And nothing more could solidity this growth than by winning the Best Representation of Latin Culture at the 2014 Latin Burlesque Festival and being published in Latin Magazine September 2014 Issue.  ​

Bella Sin is hailing originally from Juarez, in the state of Chihuahua, Bella Sin is a proud Mexican-Immigrant woman who holds the honor of being named “One Of Cleveland's Most Interesting People 2011” along with the run running tittle of “Cleveland Burlesque Queen”.  She has been the Executive Producer of the Ohio International Burlesque Festival for its entire 8 years, and is the owner of the long running Le Femme Mystique Burlesque.  She was also the Director of Logistics for the Cleveland Pride Parade and Festival “Cle4Women Rally” in 2013.

Sin is an activist, instructor, historian, actress, and philanthropist - and is known throughout northeastern Ohio for revitalizing local Burlesque. Her achievements and credentials have been praised in numerous publications and the “All That Glitters’ documentary on burlesque.  Besides being a dancer, Sin is also a model, LGBTQ community volunteer, and teacher – inspiring an array of aspiring dancers and performers. She is honored to have had her premiere project; the Ohio International Burlesque Festival officially recognized by both civic and state officials.  Sin works diligently to promote, grow, and save Burlesque history in the rustbelt region of Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Detroit.

After emigrating to the US from Havana and settling in New York, the Fabulous Julie Mist claims to be the Latin from Manhattan. She began her career in the Catskill Mountains and toured throughout the US and Canada until she settled as the feature act in the famed Club Juana for 12 years, where she and her four backup dancers headlined the show, appearing with such legends as Sally Rand, Tempest Storm, Fannie Foxe, Jerry Lee Lewis, Tiny Tim, and Chubby Checker.

​She always choreographed her own shows, and after leaving the Club Juana in 1988 went on to feature in clubs and theaters in Miami. She finished her career in Zurich, Switzerland in 1991 at the Terrasse Night Club.

Nelson Lugo, The Charming Trickster, is a magician, raconteur, former ringmaster for the Big Apple Circus, retired burlesque impresario and burgeoning grifter. Known for heartfelt illusions and wry vaudevillian honesty he is a noted and celebrated performer in the underground NYC and East Coast cabaret scene. He co-created “Vaudeville Nouveau” that ran for two years. He also co-created "EPIC WIN Burlesque” that provided pop-culture inspired entertainment that ran for four years. Operating from his vision - Nelson, alongside a small team of dedicated producers, created the very first Nerdlesque Festival. He has written three solo shows and is writing a series of steampunk inspired children's books.

Lily LeCroix is the "Caribbean Mamasita of Burlesque". This fireball is the producer of No Mija Productions. She is also the Executive Director for Fuego Danza Company

Lily has had a love affair with dance and performance since she was old enough to shake her hips!  Her training on stage started with The Caribbean Dance Company Of The Virgin Islands.  Her first love was Bellydancing, then Cabaret Burlesque which she began back in 1999. Lily has perfected her performances as her love affair with the Art of Burlesque flourished in 2013. She has studied as a “faux queen” (a female “drag queen”) where she learned all the stage secrets of over-the-top glamour. She is also the creatrix for LeCroix Creations. She is always surrounded by feathers or rhinestones designing one of a kind Headdresses, Feather Backpacks and much more!

We will utilize these tools (and more) to discover the fine details of your personna and help you to further develop it through your own personal style of movement. The adelita is my favorite memory of Mexico i have, I admired those women along with the elegance of  El Baile Folklorico dancers with the energy they give on stage. I feel my goal is to represent the idols of my youth in with great energy and costumes. I often have to tell people am from Mexico born and raise at times is hard to not be considered Latin but i have found more and more as i grow older my color does not define my heritage.
​ I love being Mexicana and i like to tell people how amazing our food and traditions are thru burlesque. 
​Every year i know that i have really inspired other Hispanic performers to tell their stories. Producer and Creator of The International Ohio Burlesque Festival, 13 year producer of Le Femme Mystique Burlesque in Cleveland, Ohio - 14 Year veteran performer and owner of The Cleveland Burlesque Academy. ​Sin has recently been awarded by The Ohio House of Representatives and recognized by The City of Cleveland's Mayor Frank Jackson.

Noella DeVille speaks to her Mexican heritage with a number which pays homage to her family, immigrants from near Monterrey at the turn of last century. Representative of her family's pressured assimilation and loss of most of their culture, this number is primarily American with an Hispanic influence.​

Everything I am owe to my mom, Irene Varela, and my dearly departed Grandpa Zeke.
Burlesque performer, producer, and instructor, Viva Valezz! has been turning on the Midwest since 2007. Her credits include being voted 2010 “Columbus, Ohio's Favorite Burlesque Performer” by Outlook magazine, taking home a “Golden Pasties” award from the 2010 New York Burlesque Festival where she has performed several years, and her dance troupe, the Velvet Hearts!, has been the only burlesque troupe ever nominated for the “Best of Columbus” in the Best Dance Company category. Her Velvet Hearts! are the only all-queer identified burlesque troupe in the state of Ohio and in Pittsburgh. Her proudest accomplishment is her work as the founder and producer of the FIERCE! International Queer Burlesque Festival - the ONLY queer / LGBT burlesque festival in the world - now going into its fifth year.
