We here at Ohio Burlesque feel the excitement building when it gets to this time of year. The excitement started for us back in february when we set off the application process and when april came we welcome our cast that showcases over 50 performers internationally. This to us has become more then a festival it's transformed it self to a family reunion of glittering sisters and brothers of burlesque.
This year the festival gears up for the addition of a 3rd night, The request came in for a show on the west side of Cleveland and there you have it Mahall's 20 Lanes in Lakewood was the view chosen or our Kick Off Party on Thursday July 31st featuring international talent and really KICKING OFF your weekend Friday in full gear with All- Stars at our Home Venue The Beachland Ballroom and Tavern on Saturday afternoon from 12 to 4 The Buckeye Burlesque Academy hosts Classes and a Glitter Mart (Vending Market) open for free to the public. You too can get your burlesque on! The Beachlad Tavern will be serving their world famous brunch as to help the energy flow with those bloody mary's and on Saturday Night The Gala with The one and only Princess of Burlesque Sydni Deveraux from NYC. We are really blowing the room with energy for 3 none stop nights of the finest burlesque in the world.
We asked around our crew and performers some questions about their feeling on OBF-We caught up with Bazuka Joe from The Stage Door Johnnies last years Friday Headliner to ask him a few questions along with Cory our sound director and many more.

OBF: What did you think of last years festival?
Bazuka Joe- Last year's Ohio Burlesque festival was surprising for me in several ways. First, I never go into festivals that are still so new with many expectations, but I was blown away at the caliber of performers on stage. Secondly, the audience was incredible. The whole venue was packed and there was even an appearance by a few key politicians!
OBF: Would you encourage people to attend and
apply? and why?
Bazuka Joe- I would definitely encourage anyone who asks to apply. Cleveland can be such a fun city and like any true midwestern town, you'll feel right at home with this cast and crew. Instant family!
OBF:What moments really surprised you about our festival?
Bazuka Joe- What moment really surprised me? I'd have to say the instant I found out that the Mayor of Cleveland sent a personal note of congratulations and support, which was read to the audience on opening night. That's a pretty big deal!
He couldn't attend, but wanted to make sure that he was in full support!

This festival is worth so much to the ones that spend their time building it from the ground. Our crew from day one has been very growing and evolving the festival more and more each year. Here is their thoughts.

OBF: What was your experience at last years festival as a crew member?
Cory Sound Director- I had a great time! All of the performers and fellow crew members are greatly accepting and full of love. It's as if you are walking into a family that you didn't know you were a part of. The show was great, all-be-it a little long and sloppy at times. The performances were great, and everyone I was able to interact with was equally amazing. The highlight for me was the post-show interaction with the cast and crew. I love the stage show but knowing the characters is so much more intriguing to me. Getting to see something unscripted, raw, and honest is more my style.
OBF: Subpar Studios is a big part of the festival this year,
How do you feel about shooting over 50 performances ?
Cory Sound Director- It's exciting and stressful. I love filming these events and portraying the performances as accurately as I possibly can, but knowing the amount of work ahead of me is mind boggling. It does make me happy knowing that because of this eclectic group of performers from all over the world, my videos will have a much wider reach than ever before. Needless to say I'm greatly humbled, flattered, and nervous about being asked to film this year.
